AMM Cameroon exists since the year 2000. It was started up by the priests of the Congregation of the Mission . It is present in seven parishes in the diocese of Yaounde and in two parishes in the South-West. There are nearly three hundred members, of whom about forty have been blessed, and about sixty have been sent on mission.

Each group has a parish council. All parochial groups are supervised by a National Director and a National President at interim. The various groups are working closely together.

In Cameroon we have chosen the following four models of apostolate: home visits, visiting the sick, serving the poor, missionary apostolate (making the Association known in other parishes).

•  Home visits

Members meet one day a week to pray the Novena in a family around the Virgin Mary. Members read and share the Word of God. It is a time that is much appreciated by the families: a moment of dialogue, careful listening, it is also a time of evangelisation and of welcoming Mary in our families. In this way families renew their trust in Mary, our Mother. She stays a few days in each family. This strengthens the feeling of solidarity between the various members and their respective families.

•  Visiting the sick

Once a month, members meet to visit the sick of the parish, each bringing along a gift. On one occasion, specially treated mosquito nets - a gift from the Ministry of Public Health - were distributed to the sick. Members pray with the patient they visit and his or her family, and if possible, offer them medals. Prayer intentions are said by all present.

•  Serving the poor

This apostolate is lived out in practice as helping orphans. Several orphans receive: food, school fees, clothes, etc… During Lent clothes are collected, washed, ironed and re-distributed to those in need.

•  Making the Association known in other parishes

We continue to make the Association known in the different parishes of the Yaounde diocese. Unfortunately, because of lack of funds, we cannot extend our efforts to other dioceses. This is because, once a group is started up, it needs regular help during its first months of existence. For the time being, we try and improve the quality of existing members.

So that, dear Vincentian brothers and sisters, is what AMM Cameroon is trying to do for its apostolate, in spite of a severe lack of funds. The Blessed Virgin Mary herself continues to support us in the mission that she entrusted to us through the Blessed Medal.
