STATUTES OF THE ASSOCIATION OF THE MIRACULOUS MEDAL OF MARY IMMACULATE FOR AUSTRIA

In many countries and dioceses of the world the Association of the Holy Medal of the Immaculate Conception, popularly known as the Association of the Miraculous Medal, has been established. The new international statutes have been approved and confirmed by the Apostolic See on February 19,1998. According to this new statutes the Austrian association of the miraculous medal becomes established.


ARTICLE 1. Purpose

Many people in Austria wear, honour and distribute the miraculous medal of Mary, which has as its origin the apparition of our Lady to saint Catherine Labouré in Paris 1830. The Daughters of Charity and the Vincentian Fathers have taken from the beginning this kind of apostolate till today. By means of the association of the miraculous medal for Austria the members should be fostered to pray with confidence for the graces they need. They should also see the corporal and spiritual needs of their neighbours, especially the most needy and search for ways to help them. Thus Jesus Christ should arrive in the hearts of the people of Austria more intensely.


ARTICLE 2. Leadership

2.1. Director General
The Director General of the Association of the Miraculous Medal is the Superior General of the Congregation of the Mission and the Daughters of Charity.

2.2. National Director
The National Director under the authority of the Director General leads the Association for a three (3) year renewable term.

2.3. Diocesan Advisor
The National Director proposes to the diocesan bishop the Diocesan Advisor and asks for his/her appointment. He/She works with the National Direktor for the members in a certain diocese.


ARTICLE 3. Membership

3.1. Those who wear a medal
All who wear a medal blessed by a priest shar in the spiritual benefits of the association.


3.2. Registered members
Registered members are those who have been registered in the records of the Association and who are willing to carry out the special duties.

3.3. Promoters
Promoters of the association are registered members who at least have enrolled further three members.

ARTICLE 4. Special Duties

1) To wear and propagate the medal

2) All members pray three times a day the prayer on the frontside of the medal: „O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recours to you.“
All members pray at least once a year a novena prayer to the Immaculate Virgin and
Mother of God to receive a personal grace.

3) The members recognize the compassionate heart of Mary contemplating her going as quickly as she could to help her cousin Elisabeth and want to imitate her actively through charitable works. They try to be open for the needs of the people, especially the most needy in their neighbourhood.


ARTICLE 5. Privileges for registered members

1) All who have been registered receive a „starting-package“, a miraculous medal, a description, a novena prayer, some more information, etc.

2) For the principal feast of the Association on the 27. November all members are invited to participate in a solemn celebration.

3) Every 27. of the month a holy mass will be celebrated for all members of the Association.

4) All members enjoy the indulgences granted in perpetuity according to the rescript of the Sacred Penitentiary given on October 27, 1995.

1. On the day of investiture,
2. On the feast of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal,
3. On the feast of the Queenship of Mary,
4. On the feast of St. Catherine Labouré,
5. On the feast of St. Vincent de Paul, and
6. On the anniversary of the establishment of the Association (July 8).


ARTICLE 6. Fees

6.1. Membership fee
The National Director terminates the fee after consulting the Visitor of the CM and the Visitatrix of the DC. The bookkeeping is done by the DC.

6.2. Donations
Donations are used only for the declared purposes of the Association.


ARTICLE 7. Seat of the Association

The center of the Association is the motherhouse of the DC with their chapel dedicated to the Immaculate Conception in Graz, Mariengasse 12.
