The Association of the Miraculous Medal at Saint Mary’s of the Barrens in Perryville, Missouri, (the Association) is part of the international pious Association of the Holy Medal of the Immaculate Conception, popularly known as the Association of the Miraculous Medal, whose original purpose and statutes were approved and confirmed by Saint Pius X on July 8, 1909. Revised purposes and statutes of this pious Association of the Holy Medal were set forth and approved on February 19, 1998, by the Vatican Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of the Apostolic Life.

ARTICLE 1. ORIGIN AND NATURE OF THE ASSOCIATION

The Association was established at Saint Mary’s of the Barrens in May, 1918. It is an apostolate of the Congregation of the Mission Midwest Province.

ARTICLE 2. PURPOSE OF THE ASSOCIATION

The Association brings Mary conceived without sin to the Catholics of North America. She reveals God’s fatherly love and her own motherly concern. The Association invites members to greater holiness: attending to their pastoral and spiritual needs, forming them in the Christian life, and involving them in the apostolate of charity especially toward the clergy and the most abandoned.
The National Shrine of the Miraculous Medal serves as the center of prayer for the Association. The Shrine is governed by its own statutes, approved on October 11, 1994.

§4. The Vice President
